SNP Candidates for the Cromarty Firth Ward
THE LOCAL SNP TEAM
Cllr. Maxine Smith

Cromarty Firth Ward 7
Maxine Smith has been an active member of the Ross and Cromarty community since 1992 when she became involved in saving Highland rural schools, including Newmore, from closure. Since then she has played a direct role in many voluntary capacities, especially in local community groups such as Invergordon Community Council and the Invergordon Business Association.
Her experience, both as an employee in the past of Highland Council and as a representative of her community, at times working closely with the Council, make Maxine an ideal candidate for Councillor, having stood in both the 1999 and 2003 elections for this area.
Maxine first joined the SNP in 1998 and shares the same values for the most part with her fellow party member, Cllr Andy Anderson. She believes in hard work, dedication to duty, putting the community first, fighting for the good of others, as well as persistence in getting what is best for the area, whether that is Alness, Invergordon or the surrounding area.
Maxine is a team player, who also shows initiative and leadership skills, but will be calling upon Andy’s knowledge in politics, his experience, as well as his familiarity with his ward to provide you with the best possible service as your SNP Councillor if elected.

Rob Gibson MSP

SNP MSP FOR HIGHLANDS & ISLANDS

As a Highlands and Islands SNP MSP I am a very active member of an extended team. Our team includes local activists, SNP councillors like Andy Anderson and my MSP colleague Jim Mather, Western Isles MP Angus MacNeil and MEP Alyn Smith. It's a time of opportunity. At Holyrood we have the third election for the Scottish Parliament. With your help the SNP can lead the Scottish Government. With your votes I can win my seat again, either as MSP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross [from Invergordon northwards] or as a Highland list SNP member that does include Alness.
I've worked hard to hold the LibLab government to account, through questioning ministers, speeches and Environment and Rural Development Committee. My regular Political Diary in the Ross-shire Journal and local knowledge help me stand up for the north in Holyrood. From my previous work as a teacher in Invergordon and Alness, chairing Kiltearn Community Council and in running the Dingwall traditional music festival I've made many friends in the area.
Dave Thompson MSP
SNP MSP for the Highlands & Islands
SNP aim to beat the Lib-Dems and oust Labour in Ross, Skye and Inverness West Two Horse Race
In 2003 Dave came second to the Liberal Democrats and, with your help, intends winning this time round. Labour and the Tories can’t win here this time but to oust Labour we must beat the Lib-Dems who support Labour in the Scottish Parliament.
Dave is a hard working local candidate who campaigned hard against the Housing privatisation and now wants the Labour/Liberal Scottish government to write off the Council’s housing debt and use the money saved to improve existing Council Houses and build new ones so that local people can get a home of their own.
Dave knows that, apart from housing, crime, drugs, health, transport and jobs are all local concerns and wants to know about your issues so, as your MSP in May, he can help you in partnership with MSP Rob Gibson and future SNP Councillor Maxine Smith so please contact him, Rob or Maxine for our assistance.
